Server Management

Backup and Disaster Recovery for Hotspot Businesses

SiscoHotspot TeamPractical guide

Use this guide as a practical framework, then adapt each step to your network, customers and operating policies.

01

Back up more than just the database

A complete backup includes your database (customers, vouchers, payments), router configurations, and environment/credential files — losing router configs alone can mean rebuilding hotspot profiles and firewall rules by hand across every site.

02

Store backups off the same server, on a schedule

A backup sitting on the same machine it protects is not a real backup — it disappears in the same disk failure, fire or theft. Automate daily copies to a separate location (cloud storage or a different physical machine) and confirm the copy actually completed.

03

Test recovery before you need it

A backup you have never restored is a guess, not a plan. Practice a full recovery on a spare device at least once — knowing exactly how long it takes and what the customer sees during that window is what actually protects your revenue during a real outage.
